Guildhall School Graduation - Class of 2017
More than 800 graduands, honorands, prize-winners, guests and staff attended the Guildhall School Class of 2017's graduation ceremonies.
201年11月3日星期五7, the Class of 2017 were presented with their degrees at the Guildhall School’s annual Graduation Day in the City of London’s Guildhall. The day's two ceremonies also saw a distinguished group of Honorands made Fellows and Honorary Fellows of the School.
Chairman of the Board of GovernorsDeputyJohn Bennettwelcomed the more than 800 graduands, honorands, guests and prize-winners to both ceremonies on what was his final Guildhall School graduation as Chairman. Principal of the Guildhall SchoolLynne Williamsand the Right Honourable The Lord MayorAlderman Andrew Parmleyalso addressed both ceremonies.

The new Honorary Fellows of the School included: sopranoBarbara Hannigan, former Director of the Edinburgh International FestivalSir Brian McMaster CBE, Principal of the Royal Conservatoire in the HagueHenk van der Meulen, and Principal of the Norwegian Academy of MusicPeter Tornquist. BBC Symphony Orchestra Chief ConductorSakari Oramowas presented with his Honorary Fellowship in front of the BBC Symphony Orchestra on the Barbican Hall stage on Friday 27 October.
Dario Marianelli gave the acceptance speech on behalf of the Honorands in the morning ceremony, with Alison Mears giving the acceptance speech in the afternoon (watch Dario Marianelli’s speech on our Facebook page).
The School’s special prizes were also awarded over the course of the two ceremonies, including Gold Medals toJosep-Ramon Olivé Soler(Music),Steffan Cennydd(Acting),Oscar Selfridge(Technical Theatre).Michael Petrovattended to collect his 2014 Gold Medal for Music. Prizes were also awarded toTimothy Crawford(Lord Mayor’s Prize),Oscar Selfridge(Lady Mayoress’ Prize),William NewellandLana Rake-Lasmane(Sheriff’s Prizes),John Findon(Chairman’s Prize),Lucie Fletcher(Principal’s Prize), andWilliam Thomas(Lutine Prize, Junior Guildhall).
